NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Snow Patrol came out of hibernation and announced a new album with the logo and an excursion to the delight of fans.
For the first time in six years, Chasing Cars hitmakers Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly and Johnny McDaid teamed up and recorded new music.
The band is now a trio after the departure of drummer Jonny Quinn and bassist Paul Wilson in September of the year.
Finally, after months of heartbreak, Snow Patrol The Beginning, the first single from their upcoming album The Forest Is The Path.
In addition to the new music, the Scottish band has announced a tour of the UK and Ireland, which will begin in 2025.
“On day one we wrote The Beginning, from start to finish,” revealed Gary, the last original member of the band.
“And he did the vocals in one take,” Johnny added. “Right after I wrote the lyrics.
“So this mind-blowing quality where you feel like you’re seeing someone’s soul. “
Snow Patrol in the early 90s, but had great luck in 2006 with the hit album Eyes Open, featuring Chasing Cars.
Although it never reached number one in the charts, the song is still the 26th most downloaded song of all time in the UK and has been named the most played song of the 21st century so far.
The new album, due to be released on September 13, follows 2018’s Wildness and is produced through the band and Fraser T Smith, who has worked with Adele and Stormzy in the past.
A reference on the upcoming album, which includes 12 tracks, calls it “an album rooted in reflection, introspection and questioning. “
Gary explained that some inspiration comes from the fact that it’s been a decade since the end of a relationship and he still feels the fading of the love he had deep down.
He shared, “I haven’t been in a relationship for very long, 10 years or more, so for me, long-distance love meant how a relationship stays in your memory from a distance of, say, 10 years.
“It’s not something that I would have thought of before to write about love. It’s like being in love, in the lobby of the Empire State Building. When you break up with this person, you end up on the street.
“You can still see the building, but it’s not there anymore. And ten years later, you’re now in Brooklyn, gazing out over the Manhattan skyline.
Snow Patrol’s new album, The Forest Is The Path, will be due out on September 13, 2024.
Here’s the full tracklist, with The Beginning now available as the first single.
This is a constant theme, The Forest Is The Path, which appears on many of the tracks.
“It’s kind of a summary of this album,” Gary added. “It’s a way of looking for mistakes, any pain it might have caused, from a position where nothing hurts anymore unless you reminiscence it, when you bring it back to your mind. “mind.
“Memory itself is full of suffering, but everything around it is not. You have this fireball in your hand, but now you wear gloves.
