The Vail Jazz Festival returns to the Valley, the weekend of Labor Day, the weekend and tickets will be on sale on April 10. Enjoy 3 days of music under a giant store with a view of Vail Mountain at the Manor Vail Lodge near Golden Peak with the end of the night sessions that take position in Fitz Lounge The Hotel.
The weekend culture returns with big names such as Terell Stafford, Bill Cunliffe, Wycliffe Gordon and John Clayton, however, there are also emerging artists in programming this year such as Josh Evans, Philip Norris, Obe Calvaire and summer camargo.
“We are very pleased to have Evans, Norris, Calvary and Camargo here this year,” said Anneliese Swift, executive director of Vail Jazz. “They’re all alumni of Vail’s jazz workshop. “
The Jazz Vail workshop brings to the most productive first -year musicians of the best school and school in Vail for an extensive educational program that is taught through many artists who arrive year.
“Many of those talented musicians will return to Vail for the first time since they attended Vail’s jazz workshop in the best school and have now continued having a successful career in music,” Swift said.
Another young artist who is coming is Gerald Clayton, son of John Clayton. Gerald Clayton component of Jazz workshop 2002 Elegance Elegance and played in 2004.
“We are extremely cheerful to bring him back for the first time in 21 years. He is a grammys nominated for six times and one of the pianists of his generation,” Swift said.
John Clayton, one nominated in Grammy himself, is also the artistic director of the festival. He and the founder of the Vail Jazz Festival, Howard Stone, presented the Vail Jazz workshop in 1996, which since then has produced many jazz musicians who have continued doing wonderful things in the industry. The Vail Jazz Foundation also welcomes Vail Jazz Goes at school, which presents academics of the fourth and fifth year in Eagle County to the basic principles of Jazz and Blues the school year.
“We’re very privileged to have John Clayton in the context of this. He has been at the helm of the Vail Jazz Workshop for 30 years and knows Vail Jazz more than anyone,” said Robin Deighan, Chairman of the Vail Jazz Foundation Board of Directors. “As one of the greatest jazz bassists of his time, John is connected to the exciting peak musicians in the field. “
The Vail Jazz Foundation Prevented after Stone’s death in August 2022. In the fall of 2023, the non -profit organization was about to avoid the maximum of its operations.
